“Through careful research and application of the papermaking process, the design for the Pinocchio Children’s Library accentuates a new type of articulated play. This more sophisticated type of play is manifested in the many kinetic elements throughout the design. Adults and children alike are afforded the experience of interacting with large operable doors and windows that are designed to provoke a thoughtful and meaningful atmosphere that pays homage to the rich history of the site and its context.
The library provides a sophisticated transformation to childlike wonder with a more refined presentation and engagement from all – both young and old. Designed to be the home of fairy tales – written and imagined – the library presents a subtle breath of sophistication, meant to inspire and awe its inhabitants right alongside the stories kept inside.”
